Asuma vs Gai

Asuma (Right Before death) vs Gai. I think Asuma would win because he has knowledge of his elemental affinity. He could then use it against Gai, who only uses taijutsu and the gates.

Nah I think Asuma has the upper hand against Gai. Gai is a klutz and uses only taijutsu while Asuma uses a mix of ninjutsu and taijutsu.

Asuma can block anything with his swallows though. On top of that, he probably can open the gates as well.

Well I'm assuming this because it seemed like jounin knew it and was easy enough for Lee to learn as a genin.

It wasn't easy, and we've only seen 2 people use gates. How can you call that easy?

Asuma I do not believe can open the gates. However he does have wind chakra. That chakra is, I believe, the most powerful chakra.

If Gai opened the gates, Asuma wouldn't know what hit him. He couldn't see him, so he can't block him.

Yeah but Asuma is a lot more strategic than Gai and probably wouldn't let Gai find him either.

but dont u think Gai is too fast for asuma to come up with a plan on how to beat him.. we never really saw asuma in a real fight..i mean that fight with that guy in akatsuki that killed him didnt really give him a chance to make a move... but i dont think just controllin ur elemental chakra isnt really that impressive..i mean sasuke was able to do it with chidori..so..
Gai in the other hand is almost equal to kakashi...has even stood up to itachi..kisame..
so based on wat ive seen i'd say Gai would win.

We are under estimating wind chakra though. But... if Lee is so fast, I would go as far as to say Gai is even faster with ankle weights on.

I'd have to say that Asuma would beat Gai. Even if Gai was going fast, Asuma could randomly cut with his trench knives(using his wind chakra) and cut Gai down.
