Because he can open all 8 gates which makes him unstoppable, even Pein can't beat him in that state.

To actually put my opinion down, I'd say in the manga/anime, Pein would win, as he's portrayed to be 1 of, if not, the most powerful person in the Naruto series. Logically, we don't know enough about Pein and his abilities to know how he might try 2 fight Lee with all gates opened

we already saw one akatsuki summon suck up a huge rasengan easily... and i think pein was just playing around with jaraiya and not at his full power... if pein can beat jaraiya in hermit mode easily.. i think he can beat lee too... pein is the strongest char in naruto right now.. he beat the strongest ninja by himself.. and destroyed a village by himself.. i say pein would win.. =/.. even tho i want rock lee to win :(

1. So much for the speed of sound then, because he still couldn't finish him off, couldn't even knock him out, if it is faster than the speed of sound, they really don't do a good job of showing it

2. On whim? Lee didn't get up and say "eh I'll let you win." That's what it is 2 lose on a whim, is the fact that he would have DECIDED to lose to Gaara, I don't see Lee doing that. He lost because of the gourd, which brings me to the next point. The Gourd is part of Gaara's fighting, A lot of people have their own little advantage thing that they have with them while they r fighting. It's a pre-prepared item that he has with him, in which there is a lot of chakra in that sand he has. If your going to chew out Gaara for having his Gourd of Sand, then chew out people with swords and weapons and abilities that they r born with as well, because every1 looks for an advantage in his or her own fighting style, and for Gaara, it's his gourd of Sand.

3. If 5 gates is the speed of sound, and your assumption is correct, I'm scared to see how underdefined the speed of light is, because if the speed of sound couldn't kill a Genin (a powerful genin no less) and 6 gates barely beat a 30% Kisame, I tremble to think how little 8 gates would do against some1 as powerful As Pein is.

Speed of Sound and Light is basically impossible to dodge, but as we saw with the "Speed of Sound," Maybe the "Speed of Light" is also possible to survive, not only survive, but win.
