Who's the most powerful: Noob question

So I'm a complete and utter noob when it comes to this show, but I decided to come to one of these, here forums in hopes that someone here would be able to help me out.

I'm currently trying to decipher who's the most powerful between a number of guys from the show, and with all the fights that have happened throughout the show, I'm having a hard time. So, perhaps, yaknow, if someone here wasn't too busy, they'd be able to, like, help me out? Please?

Hopefully one of you guys will come through for me. The guys I'm curious about are...

Orochimaru
Gaara
Jiraiya
Hidan
Kisame
Kukuzu
Deidara
Sasori

I know I'm asking a lot, but if you guys could perhaps give me the most powerful to the least, and a quick rundown of what they can do, that'd be awesome. Hell, if you're really into it (you guys are fans, I know I wouldn't mind doing it for a show I liked), you could throw in some YT videos just for show.

And the last thing would be approximately how far behind you guys think the best of these guys are from Itachi and Sasuke, the two guys whom, from my research, are probably the most powerful from the show.

Also, how would these guys compare to the top Bleach characters (whomever they are -- I know Ichigo is the best, but the other ones too), and who would be more powerful, with more useful abilities?

It leaves us with these 3. Oro isn't dead (is he? half of him IS inside of Kabuto, and he was killed when he was weak) Kisame can be beat Oro...I think...

Personally, I think Jiraiya Is the strongest. ^^ But I think Itachi is on par with him...>.> and sasuke is on par with Kisame

Honestly? With the Bleach characters, I think Itachi could burn hitsugaya, Destroy Soi Fong (hand to hand) at least! Um....Sasuke would put up a good fight against Ichigo, but they would both beat Rukia...sadly...

and pretty much the best toad sage their is.

I don't think the question can be answered. The result of a battle can be decided by so many factors, that is impossible to say if one character beat another once, then he'd beat him always.
Now, this is evident for Genins, since they're always getting better and learning new techniques. But I think it's true even for higher ranked ninjas: since there are many factors can influence their abilities, I don't think the fact that a character has beat another once (or twice, or n times for that matter) is enough to say that he's stronger than the one he beat.

This also means that while we go on with the story, we aren't going to see techniques that grow their power exponentially, thus hopefully avoiding the effect of eventually ending up with god-like characters with the ability of blowing up entire planets...

Jiriaya is the strongest of the group, Kisame is the second strongest.
Kisame though is the second strongest in Akatsuki, that's right, stronger than Itachi.

Well if kisame is so strong why does it appear that itachi is the boss of the two of them? I think itachi is just waiting for a true challenge before he shows his true strength.

But Itachi is smarter. He knows all of Kisame's moves and weaknesses ahead of time. Kisame can conceal practically nothing from him.

Kisame and Itachi are on par, at best. Stronger he may be, but that doesn't account for speed...
