Guidelines
to help you understand how this section works, and what you're expected to do when you create a new claiming thread.
0) You need at least 1000 posts to create a claiming thread.
1) This section is moderated. This means that when you post a new thread here, it doesn't appear immediately. It has to be approved by a mod or admin. This means that you should strive to create a meaningful thread, meaningless or inappropriate threads simply won't be approved.
2) Make up sensible rules for your new thread. No rules means chaos, which also means problems to be sorted out, flaming, etc. Make your rules as simple, clear and non-contraddictory as possible. Take a look at the rules of already existing threads to get an idea.
3) Keep your claiming list neat and in order. Consider using colours to keep separate claimant and object claimed, keep the list in alphabetical order etc.
4) Make people use forms and be strict about it. It's highly probable you'll have to deal with controversies about who claimed what first if you don't do so.
5) Keep your list updated. If you're going away for some time, warn someone you trust to keep track of the claims appearing in your thread, so that you can add them when you get back.
6) Old or abandoned threads will be deleted. This will be done to increase visibility to estabilished ones, and to decrease chaos in the section. We're trying to keep this section in order. If your thread has been deleted, ask yourself why it was abandoned: were the rules too complicated? Was the subject uninteresting? Was the claim list kept in an untidy fashion?
This will help you create a more popular one next time.
7) If an owner gets banned, he/she loses his/her thread, and that thread can be re-opened by someone else. If it's a temporary ban, he/she is allowed to own it once again when the ban expires only if no one has reopened the thread in the meantime.
