It is pretty obvious Naruto and the others are not going to catch up with Team Snake for a while. OR what may happen is a show down between the members of team snake and Naruto's team. They may do something where they try to slow them down while the long awaited battle between Itachi and Sasuke goes down.

It's so obvious how much he wants to be Hokage, in almost every episode of the first 2 story arcs of the series he said I'm Gonna be Hokage! I'm Gonna be Hokage!
He'll never be Hokage because of that.

Can you honestly tell me you can picture Naruto leading over the entire village in the Hokage's office at the desk sitting there?

I know it's best that way to tie up all the loose ends, but seriously, if all that happened the ending wouldn't be worth it.

If it's the main storyline of the character then yes it will happen. If there's still a window of opportunity to work with to make it interesting.
In this case...there is only one way for him to become Hokage.
There's no...twists or turns in it...they just say...the village has chosen you to be the 6th/7th Hokage.

A good twist I think is the village being torn between Naruto and someone else...but chosing the someone else.

What I'm really waiting for is when Sasuke and Itachi finally fight again. Itachi has mangekyou sharingan, amaratsu, and tsukuyomi, while sasuke has the cursed seal, chidori nagashi, and some other stuff, hmm this shall be interesting, to me at least :)

Naruto WILL become Hokage but not when people think he will. I think he will want to become more stronger and will not want to be Hokage until he thinks he is so he will go train some where but the person who IS chosen dies which makes him the more likely choice which he is forced to accept and is forced into battle making him perfect his jutsu on his first execution (just like the Rasengan) proving to all that he is the strongest shinobi alive. Also it would be awesome if Sasuke witnesses this and he finally recognizes and acknowledges his greatness instead of being jealous (if you are confused by this statement watch episode 107 - the conversation between him and Jiraiya [it actually might be episode 108]).

Also I do not think the Uchiha fight will go uninterrupted. I think something will happen that makes then temporarily team up, reluctantly.

Since when in any anime have one rival become stronger than the other?
Shinji never surpassed Asuka.
Kazuma never beat Ryuho.
Ichigo surpassed Uryu temporarily because Uyru was rendared helpless and lost his powers but after he regained them they were even.
There is no way Naruto will ever be stronger than Sasuke. And Sasuke will never be stronger than Naruto. They'll always be even. OTherwise it's just like what's the point in having Sasuke around anymore?
And he's always gonna want to be Hokage.
You know what would be stupider than him becoming Hokage though? Him becoming Hokage and then resigning.

I stand by my theory as well. Naruto is going to continue to grow and change and mature. Also if you will notice, all of the Hokages died protecting the village so they had to get their hands dirty. It may not happen often but it does happen. Apparently Hokages continue to train as well.

Dude Asuma, Shikamaru's sensei is stronger than Neji and DEFINITLY stronger than Hinata.
Shikamaru took down Hidan on his own in like 5 minutes.
Lee could beat anyone except people faster than him or that have the sharingan.
Neji isn't close to Kakashi or Gai's skill.
Shikamaru may be just a chuunin but he did almost beat Tayuya which is a at least Jounin level or higher and he beat Hidan which one of Akatsuki's best.
Don't underestimate the lazy man.

I will underestimate him. He almost died if it wasn't for Temari. She saved his butt. He also tricked Hidan. He is dangerously smart, but his dad is way smarter and his dad isn't Hokage. He realizes his strengths and weaknesses and he IS brave when he needs to be. I doubt he can beat Neji though, maybe Hinata. Well with Neji it may be a stale mate. Hyuga Clan doesn't have long ranged attacks
If you get caught in Shikamaru's shadow possession it is pretty much GG,

However Shikamaru doesn't have much chakra so if you are in the middle of no where and he catches you, if you hold out until he is drained and he can not hurt you without hurting himself so there, UNLESS he uses the shadow strangle. All he would have to do is cut off the air until you passed out, easy win. I think Neji could find a way to not get caught, not sure about Hinata.

Here is why I do not think he will die. He is freakin 50 something years old. For someone who is still an active shinobi and very skilled I think he knows his way around the battlefield. I am sure he has been near death many times and though he may get his butt whooped soundly I do not think Pain will kill him.

I could be wrong and if he does die I will definitely be watching closely at what direction Masashi is going to take. Right now the key people in Naruto's growth is Kakashi and Jiraiya. It can only be those two, the one who taught Naruto's father and the one who learned from Naruto's father. If Jiraiya dies that is a big weight to put on Kakashi. If Naruto was at least (by always legal) considered Chunin level I may feel a little better about it. Naruto still acts like a kid, still very immature, and yeah he may have passed Kakashi by the jutsu he can perform however he mentally has a long way to go.
