What level is Yamato on?

Personally, Yamato is my favorite character outside of Akatsuki members. He's cool, his Jutsu is creative, and he looks overall badass. However, many believe out of the Kakashi/Naruto/Yamato trio, he's the weakest. I find this rather absurb. I feel that Yamato is at least on Kakashi's level, if not above. I still believe he could beat Naruto any day of the week (Thanks to the fact that he can fully surpress Kyuubi) I also think that the Fuuton: Rasenshurikan and Fuuton Rasengan won't surprise him since he was the one who basically taught him the chakra elements.

Basically, what I am asking; is he on the Jounin level, or above? In the most recent chapter, we've found that Kakashi is a candidate and therefore on the level of Hokage, but if Yamato is close to his level (my opinion) or above, why wasn't he mentioned? Is it the sheer fact that Kakashi's life was more sucessful as a ninja, or his experiance was more valued? I really don't know, please express your opinions and be as calm as possible.:p

He was in ANBU so he is the real deal. You got to be a hot sh** jounin to be in there.

Agreed, I also believe he was stated to be an elite member among them...Hopefully he becomes a real awesome Jounin squad leader. Hopefully, Kishimoto doesn't use him as a mere Naruto surpression tool. An Akatsuki member fight would be really cool, especially if Yamato pulls out a win.

He has the power of the 1st Hokage so he will definitely be a main character.

True, I wonder if is close to surpassing Shodaime in any way...The way Kishimoto portrays him, he seems to be a mere copy. Looking forward to some new Mokuton jutsu.

tenzou is extremely strong (anbu is an elit after all...), but not stronger than kakashi. he was his sempai. anyway, tenzou is really near kakashi's level, maybe even the same, but he's not stronger. (that's my guessing).

Hmm, about the sempai thing, although I do believe Kakashi could whoop Naruto anyday of the week, he has said he has surpassed him. I feel Yamato would win in a battle 1 on 1, but Kakashi is an overall better shinobi...

I like Yamatos character. Its funny to see him scare the sh*t out of team Kakashi with just a look. Definitely belongs in the upper tier with his wood techniques. Not many ninjas would stand a chance against him. Gotta remember that Akatsuki is pretty much all Kage level ninja so we cant down him for not being able to hang for long against them, but he has'nt had a direct fight with them yet.

He's ANBU, so he should be upper level Jonin (despite the fact that so many ANBU get walked all over by Genin).

He's got Kage potential, but he's not there yet.

I think that since he possessses the powers of the 1st hokage, that puts him at a great level. I don't think he was really mentioned because they wanted him to be kept a secret in case the worse happened to Konoha.

i am really not so sure about that... They are concidered the elite, that is for sure, and they only work directlly for hokage... but that there would only be jounins... (i know it sounds strange, i will try to remember where i saw that :))

but you can't take out the fact of kishi loving sasuke... he makes the character who he or she is....
without kishi writing there wuld be no naruto characters or levels for them...
