thats true they both have improved and we havent seen either of their full potential

i bet the maggots nest is some kind of hollow area. Maybe its where he gets the idea of becoming part hollow and thinks up the cube "that i cant spell for the life of me" that aizen stole and is using right now? Hopefully next chapter we see some action in the maggots nest.
