Shikamaru doesn't use much chakra for one.
For two Kisame isn't that smart.
He nearly charged into a battle recklessly against Gai and Kakashi.
All it takes is one small mistake for the battle to turn around and i doubt that Kisame is perfect.

Just because he figured out how to beat Hidan doesn't mean that would always happen. Shikamaru was able to figure out Tayuya but he didn't beat her. Temari did.

Kisame is just too strong and he can make water out of no where. You can not hide from water. Also realize that Tayuya resisted Shikamaru's shadow neck bind. Kisame is stated to have the MOST chakra out of all the Akatsuki. At 30%, Kisame was said to have as much Chakra as Naruto. This is at 30%. Imagine Kisame at 100%.

He also took down a 4 tail all by himself and when he brought the Jinchuuriki back he had no signs of injury. His resume is simply too impressive.

Also, I will give it to Shikamaru that he did figure Hidan out but this was after seeing him perform his move first and not being directly attacked by him so he got to see everything Hidan had to offer. Also fueled with revenge he had time to prepare his trap and set up the right scenario to his favor.

Shikamaru's ability is virtually unparallel. However, his chakra level doesn't even scratch the surface of Kisame. Also if he takes a blow from Samehada then he is pretty much done. That sword sucks chakra. Also what moves the shadows for Shikamaru? Chakra. The chance for Shikamaru to come out the victor in this match is very little.

I highly disagree with you. When in the series was Kisame ever labled as stupid or brainless? That may be true for Hidan but not Kisame in the least. True, Shikamaru is an intelligent boy who is beyond his years however I have not seen anything proving to me that Kisame is stupid. So please explain yourself on that one before you make those accusations. I would accept that he is of average intelligence but here is the thing, he isn't immortal, he CAN die, he was one of the seven swordsmen of legend for a reason, he is in Akatsuki for a reason.

You were switching the topic! i only stated the abvious. Kisame beat the fourth tail mainly because it was the perfect opponent for him. Both Kisame and the kyuubi attack without doing the minimum thinking at all, they base their fighting skills on pure power alone it was the perfect match, the same apply to gai's team but Gai's situation is different though if he would it had fought alone he would it had own Kisame faster it wasn't his fault Neji, Rock Lee, and ten-ten were not only being useless but getting in the way they easily got trapped therefore slowing him down even more and not making him think straight as he was under pressure and only rely on his gate because of stupid Neji, stupid Lee, and stupid ten-ten were about to die.
