What is your opinion on people dating over the internet? Anything wrong with it? Unsafe maybe? Post your thoughts.

It's a bit unsafe, but i dont see nothing wrong with it. As long as you understand the risk and remain careful of what info you are sending out you should be fine

you mean like carrying on a relationship solely through the Internet? Nah, I don't think it could be possible, for the same reasons JJ pointed out.

Instead I could be interested in making friends online, and eventually meeting them after a while, once you know what they like and how they are. After you met in person, then you can think of dating.

It's a cool way of knowing a person's personality without being distracted by his or her appearance.

I'm really not bothered by it. I have friends who have dated online. Actually, at one point, she met who she was dating at one point and he was exactly as he said he was. Even before she started dating him, she'd known him for over a year. Really, if you're gonna date over the intarweb, then just cautious.

cuz I met onece someone from net. and he was like he told me he was :P

but seriously, if you meet someone form net (and if you like that person), why wouldn't you meet him/her in RL if you have this option? actually it's not unsafe at all. you just need to meet at public place xD

I don't mind if people date online,but I personally wouldn't I have to actually meet a person to date him,I got a few offers but I declined,and I think they were all from America that's really far from Slovenia so we couldn't even meet.

I don't see anything wrong with internet dating. Most people are really decent and they won't do you wrong. The scumbags out there that would take advantage are in the minority and they're pretty obvious most of the time.

You should meet early in the relationship to make sure that you're both what is expected by the other. Just make sure you bring a friend along the first time if you're worried. If they're genuine they will be fine with that. It will take some of the pressure off them. ;)

I've met several people like this and have yet to have a bad experience.

Kidnapped!!! - you would only have yourself to blame,internet dating is fine and whatever, but meeting the person is something different all together.

Not all people are the same, weirdos will do you in any chance they get, so what - you might be in a public place with a friend, he/she might seem decent but after you say your goodbyes, this weirdo secretly follows you and your friend, take it from their.

I've given my telephone number and home address to one person alone, if I know hos she sounds and looks over a web cam then its 70% safe.
Besides if I was to ever be stalked, I have three kitana's waiting in my room.

Well I am heavily involed in one at the moment personly I think they are fine, because if you make plans to meet the peson then its all okay. I have planed to met teh girl I am involved with and all my friends say its okay.

I think it's weird and pointless. People should have an actual relationship with someone they know. Having a friend online is fine, but not like a boy/girl friend relationship

It's unsafe, but it's safe as long as you don't meet the person in real life.
