Earth, 3131.
After a war between the two great kingdoms of Arameth and Daagohr, the planet has been fractured into multiple pieces, floating through space, loosely held together by the sun-like core below, and the Mother Rune deep within. With 3 large pieces making up the majority of the fractured world - countless other small 'Islands' making up the rest - travel is at times difficult, with only a few islands having bridges connecting them, and others only reachable via Rune Ships, more isolated and less-lively.
With the Three Kingdoms set on the three largest pieces of Earth - the vast climate of the nation of Varia, in which sits Arameth; the forested nation of Dren, wherein lies Daagohr; and the mountainous region of land known as Tenyo, where the Kingdom of Masayoshi sits nestled within a vast range of green mountains - the rest of the nations remain filled with small villages here and there, but is largely untapped natural beauty.
Our story begins in the 'Central Island' of Aldaron. A small, neutral nation about the size of Texas and a third of California, a rough circle in its shape, sitting in the center of the 3 great nations. Sometimes referred to as "The Fourth Great Nation", it remains classified as an island, and remains neutral in the affairs of the other nations. However, it is seen as the "Capitol Island", with all the islands being put under the national name of "Aldaron", with each individual island named after its largest, and sometimes only, village, the Island of Aldaron not withstanding.
The central island itself has a large fresh-water lake in its center, roughly 200 miles across, in the center of which a smaller 10 mile island sits, the tiny village of Alaea. It is there that Miyamoto Takuma lives, and it is there that the leaders of the 3 Great Nations have been called to meet with the Angel to discuss their next move against Belial...
-----------------------------------------
The room was bright. To either wall were large, stained glass windows, depicting romanticized images of the Angels sans Belial, and a large round skylight was situated in the center of the ceiling, directly above the circular table around which the four guests of honor sat, the light cast onto the dark oak table in the shape of a lotus flower, the metal frame of the window having been designed after Aldaron's signature plant.
Around the table were four chairs, one for each leader of the Great Nations and one for Takuma. While his seat was a plain one, oak and without any distinguishing marks - simple, for a simple man - the other three were semi-lavish, almost thrones. To Takuma's right, his back to the West Wall, sat Crimson, King of Daagohr. To Takuma's left, his back to the East, King Edominus of Masayoshi. And directly in front of Takuma, Crimson to their left, sat Arameth's enigmatic leader, only very recently chosen by the people to lead.
"Quite the rarity for the three of you to be gathered here, isn't it?" Takuma began. "I only wish it could've been under less dire circumstances. I'm sure I have no reason to recap recent events, but just to make sure we're clear on the details..." The Angel began, adjusting his glasses.
"Three weeks ago, Belial returned from his banishment to The Nether Reaches, thousands of years sooner than the rest of us Angels had anticipated. On return, he killed Tobias, creator and defender of the Mother Rune which holds our planet - however loosely - together. Then, utilizing the Rune of the Fallen Daagonian King, Aheperael, he began the arduous task of corrupting and destroying the Mother Rune, with the intent of wiping all life off the face of the Earth, and destroying the planet forever." He began.
"Even with as potent a Rune as Aheperael's, and as much skill as Belial's, this is no simple task... the world is already starting to see effects in random islands, and within a year, the Mother Rune will have been corrupted to a point where all hope is lost, and it will spiral faster and faster into its own destruction until nothing is left. Obviously, we must, somehow, kill Belial before that time and restore power to the Mother Rune." He concluded.
"Which brings us to today's meeting. If the Great Nations do not work together, then I fear there is no hope for the Earth. I know your nations have their differences - Daagohr and Arameth especially - but nothing will be solved with petty bickering. It was those two nations' former leaders who got us into this mess in the first place." Crimson glared at Takuma. He had a point, but it wasn't exactly one he liked...
"..." Remaining silent, the Daagonian King closed his eyes, arms folded, and listened. He was curious as to what the other leaders would have to say before he himself spoke... Arameth's, especially.
