Hello,

In Naruto, some of the characters names have jokey meanings that are similar to the character's characteristics. For example Rock Lee is similar to Bruce Lee the kickass movie martial artist and Shikamaru's surname Nara is the same as the antlers on deer. Deer and antlers have appeared in the story. So, the actual names of characters sometimes apply to the characters and story.

The kanji for Yondaime's family name Namikaze are wave and wind, and Naruto's mothers family name Uzumaki means whirlpool (a surname also related to water). Naruto's natural element was revealed to be wind when Kakashi tested him. Around this time it was mentioned that most Jounin ninja can control two elements. This sets the bar for Naruto to prove to prove himself strong, so he will have another element as well as wind.

Sasuke's elements are fire and lightning and he put those to good use against Deidara, whom he pwned mostly by virtue of having lightning chakra which is very strong against Deidara's earth type chakra.

When Naruto and Sasuke fought they put rasengan VS chidori. Chidori was stronger because it had the lightning element while rasengan at the time had no element, therefore Sasuke won the fight.

Now Naruto's rasenshuriken has wind chakra he could beat Sasuke in another rasengan vs chidori battle, but Yamato warned Naruto to watch out for Sasuke's fire jutsu. So, to be naturally stronger than Sasuke, Naruto having water jutsu is a must.

Assuming that natural ninja elemental affinities are inherited then let's assume that Naruto inherited wind from his dad who as Hokage could probably control most if not all elements and perhaps also an affinity to water, and Naruto's mother probably had strong water jutsu as well because her name means whirlpool.

Who could teach water jutsu to Naruto? Hmm well, Kakashi, because Kakashi is really good at water jutsu and is often shown using it.

So, everything is set up for Naruto to use water jutsu later imo. The only problem is where would Kishimoto find time for another training arc? The story is hot right now and a training arc would bore us to death. This is the only part of the theory that seems iffy. So perhaps water jutsu for Naruto will be left until much later in the story.

Thank you for reading.

I also think Naruto is Wind and Water just because those two generally go together but you made a mistake in your writing, Rasengan has never ever been weaker than Chidori.
Chidori vs. Rasengan was a TIE back then.
Sasuke won on a whim.
It's not like he ran off screaming, "FREEEEDOM!!!!!!!" no he limped off unable to use his arm and looking like he'd just was like out of it.
Naruto passed out, Chidori was not stronger than Rasengan.
Sasuke hit Naruto in the shoulder with Chidori, and it went through his shoulder.
If Naruto would of to hit Sasuke in the shoulder with Rasengan Sasuke would of lost his arm.

My name almost resembles Bran.
Does that mean I can use Corn Flakes as a weapon?
No it does not.
Uzumaki is Whirpool.
Not water.
Kabuto means Suit of Armor....does he fight using those?
Kakashi doesn't use scarecrow's
Sakura doesn't use flowers.
Itachi doesn't use weasels.
Hidan doesn't use gangs.
Gai doesn't use scythes or quarters.
Chouji doesn't use cloves.
Iruka doesn't use dolphins.
Yamato doesn't use Japan.
Tobi doesn't use construction workers.

Why would naruto use whirpools?
None of the other names relate to their techniques.

:haku: The "Whirl" in his name refers to the fact the Rasengan, and Fuuton: Rasen Shuriken use rotation (Rasengan means "Spiraling Sphere"). And his mother came from the Land of Whirl - not the Land of Whirlpools!

In saying that, Water is an obvious choice for Naruto's 2nd element. If Naruto goes into training after the current story arc (Allowing the story to focus on Sasuke, Kakashi and Sakura for a while) he will proberly take Yamoto with him to help him learn to control Kyuubi's chakra. If he learns a 2nd element then, he could learn Water off Yamoto (Yamoto knows Water and Earth, which he combines to form Tree Element). Plus, Water gives Naruto another advantage over Sasuke. Also having a high amount of chakra is helpful for large scale Water jutsu - remember how Kisame has the largest amount of chakra in Akatsuki.

The other major possibility for a second element choice for Naruto is Fire. It would suit his aggressive style of fighting, plus give him some long-range abilities which he currently lacks.

I believe Naruto is named for the whirlpools the Naruto region of Japan is famed for. It doesn't necessarily mean that Naruto will have much if anything to do with water, although for the whole sasuke thing it'd make some sense, I suppose. It'd make just as much sense not to though.

The elements comes randomly, it has nothing to do with the bloodline.

:lmao:

Anyways, I do see Naruto's second element as water. If he gets a second element that is. The sage training is going on right now... What.. will he train again? But if he does (probably the shadow clones and new natural chakra will help him learn even faster), Kakashi or Yamato could teach him that. They are both good at it.

Obviously sage techniques, techniques like jirayia xD.

The rest is pretty true.

OOO, yeah I think his second element would be water :D, and when I think of it, Air: goes with Naruto's stupidity (no offense, but it's true that he's sometimes a baka, BUT HEY I like baka type of anime characters: funny and always end up bein the strongest on the inside ^^), and water goes with his emotion and caring traits ^-^ And the surnames of his parents do make a whole lotta sense!
