.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance ur giving them xD. I don't think it's 100% Naruto x Sakura, (I think it's about 90%), but I think Naruto x Hinata is 0% xD.

Done Chapter 4, I'll email it to you now. I've also begun to post the story on fanfiction.net. I will send the chapters to you guys a day before I post it there. However, I usually re-read it a few times just before I post it on fanfic, so on fanfiction.net, you'll get a more accurate story

OMG really good I'm glad you kept Jirayha alive especially because of the info he had on Pein well thought out! But poor Kiba I almost cried its was so sad they way they died. But I want to see how Naruto will wield that sword could be awesome but I like your story a lot and look forward to reading more.

AWSOME CHAP!!!!! and kiba and hinata LIVE!!! u should add a subtle kibahina to the story if u choose for both of them 2 make it, kiba needs someone to love(especaily after losing akamaru)........... but great start on the narusaku, very lowkey and tru to life relationship starting actions (blushing at mentions of them togather)

i like how u made the discussion into a poker game and had tsunade lose, good one..... and have u ever thought about what happens 2 naruto and his parents estate? its still there isnt it? cant wait for the next chapter!

oh, and good keeping/ introducing sai into the story keeping his character, taking notes down on behavior

Haha thanks xD. Yeah, that's kind of what I was planning if they do indeed live, that's why I added the bit about his feelings for Hinata during chapter 3, to give me an out if they do live.

Yeah, as I said earlier, I'm going to gradually move the relationship along, I'm not going to have them making love in chapter 5 lol.

Haha I wasn't 2 sure about the poker game at 1st, I just thought it would be something to do while they were talking instead of simply sitting there and talking. Tsunade is the legendary sucker, of course she's going to lose xD.

I never really thought about his estate to tell you the truth. And now that you mention it, I'm really not sure what I want to do with it. I've never really imagined Naruto as some guy with all the riches available to him.

Sai is going to play.. an interesting roll, that's all I'm going to say, so I had to make sure that I kept him in

As for the mistakes..
1. Definently, that was a bad typo lol, thanks for pointing that out
2. That does sound better, thanks xD.
3. I like what I have Teuchi saying, but I will change the Naruto part of it.

Also, with regards to chapter 3, I made a small adjustment at the bottom of it. I'll be posting it on fanfiction.net later today anyways, but I thought you guys should know, as it does add another element to the story that I had forgotten.

Was it, that's 2 out of 3 people so far xD, Lina hasn't read it yet, so if it just goes with the people who have read it, it's 2 for 2 xD. The fact that you both thought it was sad and cruel, let's me know that I did my job. I wanted to give the look of a sad and cruel death.

You'll just have 2 wait to find out xD. Glad you like my story, I'll try to keep it going at a decent pace.

but as to the estate, alot of other fanfics have him inherating it pretty young, but lets see........ hes about 17 in ur story, as he is in shippuden, so thats pretty young to instantly become a millionair and inherate an estate, i dont know what ud do, but i think naruto should be told that it is there, but not be allowed to inherate it till a certain age or untill jirayha thinks hes ready(being godfather and all)

are u planning on any jirayha/tsunade hints, since while he was on the mission to fight pien, in the manga she says "if u make it back, u wont have to act so tough for me anymore"..... somethin to think about, since u kept him alive and all xD

eh, it ain't bad, but the problem is, is that about a year ago, my comp crashed, and I had to reboot it and everything. I had lost my microsoft office CD's, and since they cost SO GOD DAMN MUCH, I havn't bought them yet.

Guna b picky here, but he's actually about 15 in shippuuden. I have him at about 15 1/2 -16 years of age. Point is, it's still insanely young. Even so, when I read the manga. particularly the part with Jiraiya near death and remember a conversation with Minato and Kushina, they didn't really strike me as "rich and loaded." They kinda struck me as, "your typical family" in. wealth. I really have no idea what I'm going to do with that, but I can tell you Naruto won't be becoming a millionaire n e time soon.

Very perceptive. In fact, That line of Tsunade's has been in the back of my mind all fic. Does that answer your question?

Edit: Have an idea of what I'm guna do with the inheritence bit, you'll see it soon enough

in my personal oppinion, kashi made the characters a little too young, i mean in the first series, they look like their 12-14 (wich they are) but in the shippuden, i think saying they are only 15-16 is a little young, i think the time skip should have been a little longer, but they still would have looked the same.... all of the characters look 17 or older in shippuden

i think ur right in saying that his parents didnt come across as rich, but if naruto inhareted whatever they left, i dont think it would change him, i dont even think he would buy barely anything, being used to making his own money all his life

hmmm, nice answer to the tsunade / jirayha question, u are a master of suspense....

u did a very good job of narusaku in the last chap, showing that there is something there, they havent come to terms with it yet, even when she declines his ramen invite, just a subtle way of saying she feels something, but isnt outwardly showing anything or hasnt noticed her feelings yet... if she had at all, she probly would have gone with him

cant wait for the next chapter

-Yeah, I'm actually agreed with you there. 15-16 does seem a bit young, and they do look like they are actually 17-18 or sumthin.

-Yeah haha, even if they were rich, you wouldn't see Naruto go and buy the whole town. Being an ass here, but if you wanna read an absolutely terrible fanfic, look for "Return of Namikaze." The whole "rich" bit reminded me of this story, that and the fact that it's just extremely hard to read.

-Damn right's I'm the master of suspense, I probably have everyone thinking on that cryptic answer I gave you.

- Glad your liking the NaruSaku. I'll say this, is that we're just at the start of the fic, in which I started it post manga chapter 380. So I kind of decided to start the NaruSaku at about that level, with more hints dropped.

- I've started writing Chapter 5, though, I'm not sure how long it'll be. I'm guna go on a limb and say Friday/Saturday.

so, u think that tobi is madara huh? i personaly think that its obito, i mean... too similar, the hair, RIGHT EYE SHARINGAN, and his armor looks screwed into his body, like u know some kind of body crushing incident took place, like a ROCK... too many coincidences for me, and i cant see madera being tobi because tobi is too...... bubbly, like when hes with diedra, every time he thinks he dies, hes all "nooooooooooo, master, how could u die on me" he acts to wierd to be madara, and i doubt he would call anyone master

Yeah I'm with u there, he's dragging the itachi/sasuke fight WAAYYY to long. In fact, it's guna go another chapter after this weeks chapter.

When I posted chapter 3. I posted not really having a guess as to who he is. I just made him Madara cuz it worked better for my story. The coincidences in his look say Obito true, but lately. With his meeting with Pein and his little thing at the beginning of chap 371 or sumthin, I'm beginning to think It's Madara.

I don't think Sasuke will come back, however, I can see him possibly allying with Konoha to take down akatsuki.

Personally, I'm hoping he turns evil after this fight xD. I think it would just work out better.

I also noticed, that this FC is kicking the crap out of NaruHina and SasuSaku FC's. I found them on pages 5 and 6 or sumthin like that.

theres another good fanfic that im reading, its called master of the zanbatos.... its a narusaku, jirayha dies and naruto is toad sanin, orochimaru is dead so anko is snake sanin, and tsunade passes slug sanin onto sakura.... naruto being a sanin goes about as jirayha did and controls his information network, he finds out about his parents and inharets the estate..... hes a little superhumanish in the story but the author has good plotline and even transitions

Yeah, I'm keeping track of it, it's alright.. it's just a bit.. weird xDD. I don't argue with his plot or transitions, he's original no doubt about that haha.

im going to the mall tonight, they have an ice skating rink and they have this thing called rock n skate on fridays, they pretty much turn the music way up and u skate till midnight ! awsome times with friends, me doing the moonwalk in ice skates (harder than ud think)

- I've never been big into skating, nor have my friends, I guess now since we're of age we go chill at bars or clubs, but besides that, when we were younger, it was either YMCA if we were up for physical activity, or the mall (West Edmonton Mall dammit!!) for chilling, which would range from simply walking on the roof of the mall, (yeah we found an entrance to do that), going to play pool or bowl, or watching movies.

- I'm waiting for fanfic's to be updated as well as writing chap 5 in spare time.

But instead of killing him, placed him in that genjutsu with the sword. Then Naruto would actually be going to save him, instead of simply going to find him xD.

Well, if he did lose, then it might be sending Sasuke a message, for pursuing to kill Itachi for the wrong reasons. It could send him a message that he has to change himself from that dark person. However, if he kills Itachi, Sasuke may begin to walk a darker road in my opinion.

ooooohhhhhh man, looks like i might have been wrong on my obi/tobi theory.... on the first page of the new manga, it says "Madara Uchiha- one might say he is the founder of the uchiha clan, What is under that mask anyway?" and the picture is of tobi.... i just dont see madara acting like tobi does though, i mean look at these examples.... how could madara be tobi?

On another note, chapter 393 comes out at the end of the week, what do u think will happen. I'm guessing 1 of 2 things.

- Sasuke will simply stab Itachi with his Katana, catching him off guard, and ending the battle of their killer jutsu's with a simple stab.

- Sasuke will dodge somehow and be like "No.. this is what I truly envisioned your death to be."

I wouldn't put it past Kishi to do this either way.. Personally I'm hoping Itachi traps Sasuke in a genjutsu or something

Author Notes - Now, it is time for chapter 6. We've now found out the special training that Naruto will be using for the next 3 months. In this chapter, Naruto will be seeking help to train in the other ninja styles and kenjutsu. If you read my author notes from last chapter, you'll see that I had actually planned to have this be part of the last chapter I wrote, however, I decided that chapter 5 was long enough without this, and the chapters would actually flow more smoothly than they would've if I had included this in it. Wow, I really don't have very much to touch on at the moment. If anybody's wondering. If I was to stop the voting for the Hinata/Kiba bit. It would be 3 to 2 in favour of them living. (On the homepage site on my profile, I have 3 people there that I send the rough drafts to, One has voted for them to live and one has voted for them to die. One hasn't voted yet.) So, if your wanting to see me knock off Hinata and Kiba, post a reply saying so, otherwise they'll be alive and kicking. And if you want to see them live, vote for them to increase your lead over the other side. I only count one vote per person as well. Other than that, I'm fresh out of things to say for now, so, on with.... Chapter 6!

Chapter 6: Seeking the Styles

"Itachi!!! I'll kill you!"

Sasuke woke up with a start. He was expecting to see Itachi standing over him, preparing for the next move in their fight, however, that was not to be. Sasuke instead found himself laying on a mattress on a baren floor.

Where am I... what happened?

Before he could think any further. His teammates, Karin and Jugo ran into the room upon hearing his voice. "Sasuke, your awake!" Karin exclaimed. "How are you feeling? Are you hurt? Do you need any assistence?"

Sasuke frowned at her. "No.. I don't actually. What are we doing here? And, where's Suigetsu?"

Karin let the smallest of frowns cross her face. "Well, first off.. Suigetsu is dead. Kisame killed him in a fight.," she said, "And as for where we are, we're in the village we were in after you fought the other Akatsuki member."

Sasuke merely replied. "I see.." Then his original phrase came into mind. "What happened with Itachi, if I'm here.. why didn't he kill me when he had the chance?"

Karin didn't respond to what he had said, she just looked away from him.

"Well, I'm going to make him regret letting me live!" Sasuke exclaimed, "I'm going to go out and gain the Mangekyu Sharingan, and then, he won't be able to defeat me at all!" Sasuke then tried to stand up, but fell back down, he was still in a bit of pain from his fight,

Karin immediately brought a washcloth to his forehead, and then spoke up. "Don't try to over-exert yourself, you still have some mental damage to your brain from the attack. We're probably not going to be able to make any immediate moves for a while.."

Flashback

Kisame turned around to meet Itachi's face. "Well, that was fun, and from the looks of it, you had a bit of fun too." Itachi merely smiled at the comment, so Kisame continued. "What about those 2 kids, should we get rid of them?"

Itachi immediately replied, "No.. they aren't worth the effort right now. Besides, Sasuke needs them at the moment anyways." Kisame looked confused so Itachi continued. "The boy didn't have the Mangekyu, therefore, he wasn't worth killing, so, I left him with a parting gift." With that, Itachi flashed his eyes and gave a malevolent smile.

Kisame frowned. "You know that technique isn't good for you, you got to be more careful with that." Kisame paused before adding, "That technique is like a fucking drug to you for crying out
loud!"

Itachi contemplated his words for a minute before commenting. "It doesn't matter.. soon, the side effects of the Mangekyu won't matter to me.. if all goes according to plan anyways." Itachi walked a little ways past Kisame, signalling that is was time to go.

End Flashback

"And Sasuke... you shouldn't go out to gain the Mangekyu."

"And Sasuke... I don’t think you should try to gain the Mangekyu."

Sasuke looked at Karin with a look of disdain. "And why should I not do that, shouldn't I gain it to be able to defeat Itachi? Who are you to tell me this?"

Sasuke looked at Karin with a look of disdain. "And why shouldn’t I? It’s the only way to beat Itachi, and who are you to tell me this anyway?"

Karin looked down and replied. "We overheard him and Kisame talking.. it sounds as though that's what he wants.. it's more than likely that you'd be working into Itachi's plans if you gained the Mangekyu."

Karin looked back up and replied, gaining confidence. "Hell no you won't. Your Uchiha Sasuke, you killed Orochimaru damnit! You'll kill Itachi no sweat!"

Sasuke looked down. "Orochimaru was already weakened when I killed him.. it means nothing."

Karin was irate. "Nothing! Nothing! Orochimaru isn't exactly nothing damnit! Weakened or not, you still killed him, and you can get your brother as well."

Sasuke continued to look down, with a mournful expression on his face. "Yeah.... I sure hope your right Karin."

Naruto woke up with a start, as his alarm clock blared beside him once again, signalling that it was 6am, and that it was time to get out of bed and begin another day of training. Well, that wasn't quite going to be the case, and yet it was going to be the case. Today, Naruto had to take care of some business.

Flashback

Jiraiya thought on his words before replying. "I wanted to find you, to tell you that while you need to stick to the training in those scrolls, you should also balance your training out. You should not only train on the ninjutsu on that scroll, but also on Taijutsu, Genjutsu, and now.. Kenjutsu, since you have that giant sword."

Naruto smiled at that comment. "Yeah.. that sounds like a good idea. But Ninjutsu's always been my big strong point. I'm not sure how effectively I could train myself in the other areas.."

Jiraiya smiled at Naruto and replied, "Who said that you have to train by yourself?"

Naruto looked at him questioningly. "Well, who else would train me in those other areas?"

Jiraiya had just finished his bowl of ramen, and now stood up to make his leave. "You'd be surprised at how many people you'll find willing to help you out Naruto. As I said before, you tend to bring out the best in people. Just think of who you'd like to have train you and go ask them, I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving you some of their time."

End Flashback

Yes, today, Naruto was going to take Jiraiya's advice, and go seek the help of his friends and mentors for help in his other ninja styles. He already had in mind who he was going to talk to, and was more or less looking forward to the day.

God damn alarm... Naruto turned to glare at his alarm clock sitting on the side table beside his bed. One of these days.... I'm going to fucking bash that thing in!

Naruto swung his legs over his bed and walked into the shower. Still having the gravity seal on, Naruto found it to be extremely difficult just to take a shower, with all of the steaming hot water splashing over him. However, he had decided to keep it on pretty much all of the time, in order to get used to it faster, and get much better effects when he was done. He wanted to take full advantage of 'Gravities Effect.'

Naruto stepped out of the shower and got dressed. However, instead of going over to Ichiraku Ramen, He decided to make his own balanced breakfast at home. So, Naruto dug up contents to make... ramen. Naruto licked his lips as he cooked his own Miso Ramen recipe over his stove, and later, poured the Ramen into a gigantic bowl. Naruto picked out some chopsticks and heaved the Ramen down his throat. He was wanting to get out the door as quickly as possible, to get everything done that needed to be done.

As Naruto was putting his bowl in his sink, a sudden glint caught his eye. He shifted his glance over to the corner of the room. There, leaning against the wall, was the Kubigiri-Houchou. He couldn't really wait to get started training with that, however, since he wasn't exactly going to be 'starting' today, he decided against bringing it along, as it might attract a bit more attention than Naruto really wanted to have. So, Naruto merely drug out the one gigantic scroll with all the Ninjutsu on it, and made his way to the field he had been training in the previous day.

As Naruto walked out of the door, the feeling of the cool, crisp morning air hit him suddenly. Naruto stood there for a moment, savoring the feel of the breeze that was hitting him. Then, he made his way through town. Today was looking to be a day a lot like the previous day. The only difference was that it looked like a few more clouds would be covering the sky.

When Naruto got to the field, he decided that since it was so early in the morning, he would take a bit of time to train himself before he got down to business. Naruto did a couple of stretches, and then made his way around the field, simply doing laps, and gettin his body more used to the effects of 'Gravities Effect.' Naruto even sped up a couple times from walking and took quick sperts of slow jogging. He was only able to jog for about five seconds each time. But as the day went on, he found he was able to do it more and more.

Finally, 9am came, and Naruto discontinued his laps, and made his way to the humongous scroll still rolled up and tied off. Naruto immediately undid the lace, and let the scroll once again roll out like he had done the previous day. Naruto then smirked and brought his hands together.

Tajuu Kage Bunshin No Jutsu

hundreds of Naruto clones immediately appeared all over the field, totalling about one thousand clones. The clones starting shouting incoherent nonsense, and the noise filled the fields. Naruto's face immediately fell as the clones continued to yell out. Am I really this annoying....?

With those thoughts, Naruto instantly shouted "Hey! You guys, I mean... ah never mind, just look over here and pay attention!"

The chatter gradually died down at the shouted command by Naruto, and a couple minutes later, absolute silence filled the field, all of the clones directing their attention at the real Naruto. Wow... so many me's looking at me.. that's just a little bit creepy.

Naruto put these thoughts to the back of his head and cleared his throat. He then yelled out to the rest of himself. "Alright you guys, listen up, today, your all going to be training out of this scroll. I want you to begin learning ALL of the techniques on this scroll, starting from the top!"

All the Naruto's nodded their heads, and made their way to gather around the giant scroll. As they ran, they were all shouting. "Yeah!! Tons and tons of powerful jutsu. The more jutsu we have, the stronger we'll be!"

The real Naruto flashed a foxy grin at their enthusiasm, and he then turned to make his way back towards town. He had some people to track down today.

Kakashi walked up behind Sakura, keeping his face set to look like he had a mild interest on what was going on. "So... have you decided to come and learn Water-Affinity after all?"

Naruto shook his head at the statement. "No, I didn't come for that Kakashi-sensei. However, I did come here in the hopes that you would come by."

Kakashi raised a questioning eyebrow at Naruto, signalling him to continue. "Well.. I was hoping that you could multi-task in training me and Sakura."

Kakashi thought on this and replied. "Well, that really depends, what are you wanting to be trained in?"

Naruto quickly answered with a ready statement. "Well, I know that I can't perform Genjutsu, but I was wondering if you could teach me to defend Genjutsu's better, so I don't keep getting caught in them. It's a skill I'm going to need."

Kakashi looked at Naruto like he was possessed, and then burst out laughing, in a rare showing of his emotions. "Hahaha, you want ME to teach you Genjutsu defence? He asked. "Oh God, that's a good one Naruto, but seriously, what are you wanting me to train you in?"

Naruto frowned at Kakashi. "I'm serious, I want you to train me to defend against Genjutsu." Naruto then stood up and began to state his case. "I mean, I've seen you perform Genjutsu before, so I know your pretty decent at it, plus I don't know anyone else who can perform Genjutsu, so please, could you help me out?"

Kakashi reverted back to his original face. "Sorry, but I can't train you in that, I'm rather busy at the moment. However, I could recommend a much better teacher than myself to help you in that department."

Naruto squinted his eyes at Kakashi and frowned. "This sounds oddly familiar..."

Flashback

It was just after the Chuunin preliminaries, and Naruto was looking for Sasuke. The nurses told him he wasn't being allowed visitors, when Kakashi walked by

"Naruto, be quiet inside the hospital," Kakashi said

"Oh! Kakashi sensei!" Naruto exclaimed. "Hey like! Hey like! I have a request!!"

Kakashi interupted him. "No need to tell me, well, I already know what your going to ask... I found someone who will look after your training."

Naruto was irate. "Why!? I want you Kakashi-sensei!"

Kakashi replied, "I've got some business to take care of, so, I don't have the time to look after you."

Naruto thought on those words and then shouted "I know! Your planning to train Sasuke!"

Kakashi replied in his bored tone. "Now, now, don't say that.. because I've found a teacher for you who's much more reliable than me."

Naruto then said "Like.. who is it."

An oddly familiar voice then replied. "It's me."

Naruto turned around in utter shock. "Oh, your... the closet pervert!!"

End Flashback

"This is like that time you left me with Ebisu to train Sasuke!!"

Kakashi then smiled and rubbed the back of his head. "Hey, hey. I'm actually telling you the truth this time."

Naruto looked at him sceptically. "So, who are you suggesting then..?"

Kakashi replied "Go look around for Kurenai. She's the Genjutsu specialist in this village. She'll be able to help you out far more than myself."

Naruto was taken aback at that statement. "But.. I've never seen Kurenai use Genjutsu... but then again.. I guess I've never really even seen her fight..." Naruto thought on this for a moment and then said, "Alright Kakashi-sensei! I'll take your word for it this time, I'll go find her!"

Kakashi smiled behind his mask, "That's probably the better choice. Even if I was a better Genjutsu user, it would clash to much with Sakura's Water Affinity training."

Naruto looked back at Kakashi and said, "You train her well, you hear. She better be damn good with that element by the time these three months are over."

Kakashi smiled and replied. "I gave her the chakra paper test, she's Water natured, so that's her main affinity."

Naruto smiled and turned to walk away. "That's good, you train her well then Kakashi. We'll see you later Kakashi. You too Sakura, Have fun training!"

Sakura smiled and waved at him "We'll see you later Naruto!"

Kakashi merely smiled behind his mask as he watched Naruto walk off.

Naruto made his way around town looking to find a sign of Kurenai, but after an hour of searching, he was beginning to become impatient.

I really should've asked Kakashi-sensei where Kurenai-sensei lives... O yeah, maybe someone from her former team would know!... Wait... Shino's dead and Kiba and Hinata are in the hospital.. damn.. O Yeah! Kurenai-sensei may be over at the hospital waiting for Hinata and Kiba!

With that train of though etched in his mind, Naruto made his way over to the hospital.

The nurse sadly replied. "Their condition is about the same as it was when Hokage-sama and her apprentice left them two days ago.. We're still not sure if they're going to make it.."

Naruto turned away and walked towards the stairwell. "Ok then... thank you nurse." And without waiting to hear a reply, Naruto made his way up the stairs. When Naruto got to the operation rooms, he was none to surprised to find Kurenai sitting as still as a statue, hunched over, looking sadly at a certain spot on the ground, as though something down there had caught her interest, however, all there was, was tile.

Naruto's face fell, and he sat in silence for a minute, contemplating Kurenai's words. Naruto then let his trademark grin slide on to his face. "Don't say things like that, those two are really strong ninjas, they'll definitely make it! just you watch!"

Kurenai once again brought her eyes to meet Naruto. She let a small smile grace her face. "I sure hope your right Naruto.." She then bowed her head down again. "However, I get the feeling that you didn't come here simply to talk about such sad things, Why were you looking for me?"

Naruto took his turn to let his head hang down and look to the floor. "Well, I've been told that I should find someone to help me with my genjutsu.."

Kurenai finished his sentence for him. "..and you came to the conclusion that I would be the best person to teach you. Right?"

Naruto nodded his head from side to side. "No.. Kakashi-sensei came to the conclusion for me. He said that you were the best Genjutsu user in this village."

Kurenai gave out a big sigh and replied, "Well, he was certainly right on that one. Not to brag.." she looked up and smiled, "but I am definitely the best Genjutsu user in Konoha."

Naruto looked up at Kurenai and said, "Yeah.. I kind of hate to ask you this, with all you've gone through.. and your pregnancy, but I would like to ask you if you would train me to defend against Genjutsu, as I myself, can not use it?"

Kurenai looked towards the floor again. "With my pregnancy, I can't physical fight until I'm through with it, and even then, I have to take care of my child." Kurenai paused and continued. "I've already lost my husband, and I've lost one half of my first genin team.. I'm in a state of emotional shock now, I must admit..."

Naruto stood up and smiled. "Don't worry, Kurenai-sensei.. you don't owe me any explanations.. I respect and understand that you can't train me." With that, Naruto, getting the feeling that she wanted to be alone, made his way to the stairwell.

"You're misunderstanding what I'm saying here.. Naruto." Naruto looked back to see Kurenai, still looking towards the floor. "I said.. that I can't fight right now, but.." Kurenai then faced towards Naruto. "That doesn't mean I can't and won't train you. So, I'll train you, on one condition."

Naruto nodded at her to continue. "I've lost Asuma.. Shino.. and even Akamaru. Even though he was a dog, I still thought of him as part of the team. Now, I might lose Kiba and Hinata as well. They've all fallen to members of that organization.. Akatsuki. Promise me, that if I train you, you'll finish off Akatsuki."

Naruto let his trademark smile once again plaster his face. "I definitely will Kurenai-sensei, that's a promise!" Kurenai smiled at the boy. "And.. I won't go back on my words, because that's my ninja way!"

With those words, Kurenai got out a piece of paper and wrote down a few notes on it, and then tossed it to Naruto. "Alright then Naruto. Go to that address in one weeks time at 9:00am. Your training will begin then."

Naruto raised his hand and gave her the thumbs up. "Right, I'll be there!"

Naruto now found his way walking towards the Hokage Tower.

Flashback

Naruto had just pissed off Tsunade upon meeting her, and she challenged him to a fight.

"I've been one of the three Legendary Ninja's" Tsunade stated, "I don't even need to be serious in this fight."

Naruto was irate. "Shut Up!"

Tsunade then raised her finger on her right hand. "One finger should be enough.."

End Flasback

Naruto pumped up both fists and grinned. "I want that Super Strength of hers damnit!"

As he approached the Hokage Tower, Naruto could make out a figure leaving the Tower. Upon looking closer, he saw who it was and smiled.Well, I guess I was going to be looking for her later anyways, I guess this just saves time.. Naruto then yelled out, "Hey Tenten! Over here"

Tenten looked over to where the voice was coming from and let a confused smile grace her face. She decided to make her way over to him and see what was up.

"Hey Naruto, it's been a while, what's up?"

Naruto smiled at her. "Nothing much really, but I was looking for you.. by the way, what were you doing over here?"

Tenten immediately replied. "Well, I was actually here just getting a mission for our team. We're probably going to be setting out tomorrow though. But that's besides the point. Why were you looking for me?"

Naruto also immediately replied to her question. "Straight to the point huh? Well, I'm looking for somebody to train me in Kenjutsu, and your the first person who came to mind."

Tenten zoomed in on Naruto. "Is that so huh?" She then walked around him in a circle. "Uzumaki Naruto, the person who beat Neji in the chuunin exams, wants little old me to train him to play with weapons?"

Naruto grinned at her. "Damn right's I do, your like, the Weapons Lady Master! Besides, I need to get really good at using a sword."

Tenten looked at him in confusion. "A sword? I was under the impression that you only used ninja stars and Kunai. Why do you want to get good with a sword."

Tenten's curiosity was at it's peak, but she didn't show it. "Well, I guessss I could show you how to use a sword.. besides, if you become Hokage, I'll be able to brag that I had a part in training you." She then let her own smirk grace her face. "We'll probably be gone for ten days with this mission. So meet me by the Forest of Death in ten days time to begin. We'll see you then Naruto." With that, she walked off.

Naruto had a dumbfounded look on his face after hearing her claims. Then he let the right corner of his mouth turn into a smirk. If I become Hokage.... More like when! Naruto then turned around and made his way to Tsunade's office.

Naruto walked up to her office and knocked on the door. Tsunade looked up from her work to see who was knocking, only to see Naruto letting himself in.

"Naruto!?" She exclaimed in surprise. "I thought that you'd be out training right now. What are you doing here?"

Naruto grinned and replied, "Surely.. you havn't forgotten about the training Kakashi-sensei introduced me to. So technically, I am training right now."

Tsunade smiled at him and then said, "Alright, point taken. Still though, what brings you here?"

Naruto then replied. "Well, right now I'm looking to..." Naruto stopped abruptly when something caught his eye. "Tsunade Baa-chan... what's that mark on your neck?" Naruto asked her with a smirk.

Tsunade blushed a deep red and pulled her green coat over her neck. Then she angrily answered him. "You.. you just mind your own business kid!"

Naruto still kept that all knowing smirk plastered on his face, but decided to let the embaressment consume her. "I'm actually looking for someone to train me in Taijutsu. I decided that your Super Strength is fucking awesome, and I wanted to ask you to train me to use it!"

Tsunade collapsed back down into her chair. "It isn't that easy Naruto.."

Naruto then retorted to that statement. "Not that easy! I'm damn sure you could train me to use that awesome strength! What's not so easy about it!?!?"

Tsunade hardened her face and replied, "The strength that I have, requires extremely precise chakra control. It's simply a case of you not having that level of chakra control. Since that's the case, I can't train you in my style of Taijutsu."

Naruto had a retort ready for that as well. "But.. Sakura-chan can use it, you trained her to use it, so why not me?"

Tsunade softened her face and smiled at him. "Sakura is the only person I've seen in this village, capable of that chakra control. Don't get me wrong, You have pretty damn good chakra control yourself. However, it's not enough. The only person in this village that had the ability to learn it was Sakura."

Naruto suddenly let a warm smile etch on his face. "Sakura-chan.. damn.. she's one impressive ninja, that's for sure, there's so many thing's that she can do that I can't.."

Tsunade stood up and once again hardened her features. "While that's true, there's also many things that you can do that she can't." Naruto then looked up at her in surprise as she continued. "You have amazing command over ninjutsu, and you have an unmatched stamina. You have the ability to make the impossible possible. You also carry a disgusting amount of potential. You could possibly be the most powerful ninja that's ever existed! Your already ahead of your graduating class, including Sakura, by a large margin. Soon, you'll most likely be the most powerful in this village."

Naruto let that warm smile plaster his face again. "Heh, thanks for that Tsunade-Baa-chan, really.." He then paused before continuing. "However, I wasn't saying that in jealousy.. I'm just marvelled at how talented she is."

Tsunade walked back behind her desk, plopped down in her chair, and also smiled warmly at Naruto. "I get the feeling that your marvelled with her in ways other than her ninja ability.."

Naruto thought on those words and replied, "I don't know what my feelings for her are anymore, I'm pretty confused about what I feel for her myself. However, I think she'll always hold her love for Sasuke.. all I know is that my reasons for getting him back are mainly for her sake. I still see Sasuke as a brother.. but, that was so long ago. He's changed, alot. But that doesn't matter. I made a promise to Sakura-chan, and I don't plan on breaking it. So I'll bring him back, even if I have to break him to do so. Then, I'll change him back into the Sasuke from three years ago."

Tsunade smiled at him and turned her back towards him and faced outside. "All I can say Naruto, is that feelings change over time. I know that now, first hand actually. Maybe Sakura doesn't love him anymore."

Naruto looked up at her in confusion, waiting for her to say more. "That's besides the point though, I can't train you to use my strength. You should find somebody else."

Naruto stood up and walked towards the door. "Don't worry about it Tsunade, I had someone else to fall back on.. though, I would've rather avoided it... I'll take what you just said about feelings.. I'll take that into consideration.. we'll see you later Tsunade Baa-chan.

Tsunade turned around and replied. "Good luck with your training, Naruto."

Naruto had been walking the village for hours now, in search for the person he wanted to have train him in Taijutsu, but was having no luck what so ever. He had looked at every inch of the village. This guy was one of the most elusive people he had ever had the hopes of finding. The sun was beginning to set and he was beginning to lose hope in finding him.

God damnit, I've been searching for so god damn long. This better be worth it!

And, as if on cue, he heard the voice he was looking for ring out. "Lee-Kun, we have only completed 500 laps around the village, we still have another 1500 to go."

He then heard his protoge answer him with three simple words. "Yes! Gai-sensei!"

Naruto *sweat dropped* at the scary enthusiasm those two displayed. looks like I finally found him. Naruto then yelled out to make his presence known. "Hey Gai-sensei! Lee! Wait up!

Both Gai and Lee turned towards Naruto as he walked over to them. Gai then began the conversation, Smiling in his patent way. "Oh, it's Naruto-kun. Do you want to join in on our youthful warm up exercises?"

Lee ran up to Naruto. "Please join us, Naruto-Kun, and bask in the glory that is my sensei, Gai-sensei!" He also flashed his patent smile.

Naruto looked at the pair like they were crazy, and then waved his hands in front of him. "No, no, it's nothing like that, I just wanted to ask you something Gai.

Gai looked at Naruto with a dumbfounded look, but recovered his features back into his smile. "Well, if you don't want to join us in our warm up, what is it that Naruto-kun, the student of my eternal rival, Kakashi, would want of me?"

Naruto was taken aback by his attitude once again. Suddenly.... I'm not so sure about this.. However, Naruto decided to go through with it. "I'm looking for someone to train me in Taijutsu.. and, I wanted to ask you to train me in your Taijutsu style.. so, could you train me?"

He looked at Gai, but he had gone into his own little world with Rock Lee.

"Lee, do you know what this means?"

"What does this mean, Gai-sensei?"

"A student of my eternal rival, Kakashi, has come to ask me to train him!"

"Who wouldn't come to you to accept training for someone as proud and youthful as you, Gai-Sensei?"

"Your point is well taken, Lee. Who wouldn't choose me over my eternal rival, Kakashi?"

"There is no one as great as you, Gai-sensei!"

"No, there isn't, but you are following in the footsteps of I, Konoha's Noble Blue Beast, Maito Gai!"

"Gai-sensei, you honor me too much!"

"Maybe so, but we now have a new task. We must guide young Naruto-Kun towards the setting sun!"

"Yes, Gai Sensei!"

Naruto looked on with a look of annoyance. The two of them both were facing away from him and looking at the sun. Those two are so weird. Naruto then turned around and began to walk away. "Well, if you two are going to watch the sun, I'm going to go ask Kakashi-sensei to train me instead."

Those words woke up the two unique ninja, and they immediately turned around. Gai then pleaded in desperation. "Wait, Naruto-kun, come back here, please, we were just getting back to answering you!"

Naruto looked around at the pair with an annoyed face. "So then, what's your answer?" He already knew the answer though.

Gai regained his features and put his hand to his chin. "After long and careful thought, I, Maito Gai, have decided to train you in the art of Taijutsu."

Naruto grinned at Lee and Gai. "Ha, thanks a lot Gai. When do you want to begin?"

Gai once again let his trademark smile grace his face. "We shall begin your training... NOW!"

Naruto fell over when Gai had answered him. He stood up and waved his hands in front of him. "Right now!? I can't right now, I'm supposed to..... go talk to the Hokage! Yeah, that's it! I got to go see Tsunade Baa-chan."

Gai frowned upon this statement. "Very well then Naruto-Kun. We shall begin your training when we come back from a mission we have recieved. We shall see you at 6am, in ten days time, at this very spot."

Naruto waved to them and walked away. "Alright then, we'll see you two then." With that, Naruto went to check on and dispell his clones.

Lee returned his wave and replied. "We shall see you in ten days time, Naruto-kun."

Gai, however, had dug into his bag for something. And then he made one more statement. "Naruto-kun, I will only train you on one condition..."

Naruto looked back in their direction only to see an all too familiar green spandex cloth flung at him. Naruto caught the piece of spandex and looked at it in horror. He then turned his attention to Gai and Lee, who had their smiles plastered across their faces. "Oh god.. you have got to be fucking kidding me.."

Tajuu Kage Bunshin No Jutsu - Multiple Shadow Clone Technique

Author Notes - Wow.. um that really didn't take as long as I was expecting it to. That's besides the point I guess. That ends chapter 4. I'm guessing a lot of people could've guessed that I would have Kurenai and Gai train Naruto in Genjutsu and Taijutsu respectively, however, I think I might've surprised most people in having Tenten to train Naruto in Kenjutsu. I also wanted to note that I didn't have Naruto suceed in finding people right off the bat. Heck, 2 of his 3 first attempts were given a "no" answer. I hope I'm giving enough clues to NaruSaku. I'm not going to rush it, so I'm trying to put in little bits that eventually lead up to it. So, I hope I'm doing at least a decent job in that. Also, added a bit of fallback from Team Snakes point of view. You'll probably see more fallback as we go on. I also hope that the Gai and Lee conversation wasn't confusing to anybody. In fact, you'll notice that Lee always says 2 certain words each time he's talking to Gai, so I don't think there should be TOO much confusion. Anyways, next chapter, a special occurance happens to Naruto. What that is, I won't say, you'll have to tune in to the next chapter. Take a guess, if you like. I look forward to reading your reviews. I'm sure the reviewers have noticed I reply to each and every one. So, until next time.

OMG this story is amazing I love it I did what i promised and read them all last night and now I'm like whoa! i love my highschool class schedule this trimester, i have 1st period, then 3 1/2 hours off (on that break right now) and then 5 6 7 periods, 5 6 being auto tech(awsome)......... well, anyway hows chap 8 going? u know ur realy fast compared to other FFs, some on FF.net arent updated for weeks, and here u are working on chap 8 after only a week and a half- two weeks! i couldnt do it

I think it's actually good for the story if Sasuke stays evil.

If he just comes back, then it kills what Naruto's doing. His whole reason, his big goal, for the shippuuden series has been to get Sasuke back. That should be a goal accomplished at the end. Besides, if Sasuke comes back, I wouldn't be so sure about NaruSaku... becuz it would just mean that kishi is in a hurry to have Sasuke accomplish his goals. (kill a certain man and revive his clan)

Though, on that topic, I'm wondering.. after this fight, will Sasuke really want to revive his clan. I mean, he's now heard of his clan's bloody history, if he does indeed have good in him, then, will he really want to revive such a bloodlust clan?

Oro is part of Sasuke and Kabuto. The part in Sasuke is trapped in a genjutsu for eternity, the part in Kabuto is trying to take over his body.

I think Sasuke is more or less a "neutral character." I'd say Akatsuki is a possibility, but not likely. I suppose we'll just hafta see how the story goes ya?

It's much better if you just write your story and don't let the fans knock you around. I'm saying this becuz the couple that the majority in Japan likes is SasuSaku haha. xD

Who saw the double episode? That was... EXTREMELY Boring!!! I found myself clicking the mouse 2 skip the flashbacks after the 1st half of it. The fighting was extremely slow paced. the anime is losing it, big time.

anime's quality is quite low now. at least in my opinion.
manga is still way better, tho it should be the opposite (cuz of sound and pics effects in eps).

~~Hinata~~

Hyuuga Hinata (Hinata Hyuuga in the English anime) is a character in the manga and anime Naruto. She is a member of the famous Hyuuga clan and posseses the powerful advanced bloodline, Byakugan.

Her Personality and Ability
Hinata is a incredibly shy and soft-spoken member of the Hyuuga clan. She is a very determined Chuunin-level Taijutsu user originally from Yuhi Kurenai's team 8. She possesses the Kekkei Genkai Byakugan and specialises in the Jūken, or "Gentle Fist", fighting style. This means that her field of vision is almost 360° and she is able to damage her opponent's chakra circulatory system and inner organs directly with even a slight tap. Since she is the main house's elder daughter, Hinata is supposed to be the heir to the clan; however, because her father deemed her a lost cause as far as talent is concerned - apparently of even lesser skill than her younger sister, Hanabi, and not even comparable to her cousin Neji - he disowned her and left her in the care of Yuhi Kurenai, who became her sensei. In more recent chapters of the manga, he seems to have taken her back in, though the reason is not made clear; going by scenes added in the animé, Hinata seems to have finally grown enough in talent and confidence to redeem herself in her father's eyes.

Struggling against her low self-confidence and slowly gaining ground, Hinata often has to remind herself to try her best instead of just giving up, like she used to. She has a crush on Naruto of which he is completely unaware, and has admired him for his positive and inspiring attitude years before they graduated the academy when he was still regarded by almost everyone else as a good-for-nothing reincarnation of a monster fox. Interestingly, Hinata is one of the few female characters close to Uchiha Sasuke's age who have not expressed romantic interest in him, but rather in Naruto (who is unpopular as an object of romantic affection to such a degree that no other girl we know of has had any for him even to this point in the manga, let alone in his earlier years as an outcast).

When Naruto introduces her for the first time he says she is a "a shy, dark, weird girl who always looks away when I look at her"; However from that point on events change his view on her quite radically and she earns his sympathy and friendship. Haruno Sakura comments that they're very similar and that come to think of it she's always been watching him, to which the ever-sharp Naruto replies, "Huh?".

Masashi Kishimoto says: "Humans are separated by differences they are born with but I want to believe that people can change and wanted to express that. Hinata's theme is 'by believing in yourself, you can become a new person.'

Chuunin Exam Arc
During the first part of the Chuunin exam, which is a written test, Naruto and Hinata end up sitting next to one another. When things start looking desperate for Naruto, she offers him to copy off of her paper (which in truth is not cheating but rather the objective of the test, as long as one manages not to get caught). Naruto refuses because this could get her in trouble and his pride won't allow him to do that sort of thing (and promptly laments this decision).

In the third stage preliminaries, Hinata offers Naruto a case of medicine she apparently keeps with her at all times. It works amazingly quickly because of synergy effects with Kyuubi's healing. Shortly after she faces her cousin Neji in a battle, which is one of the worst possible match-ups for her, if not the worst; he knows her own fighting style better than she does. Neji tells her that she is unfit to be a shinobi and should quit, and she responds she entered the exam to change herself. Neji then launches a vicious speech about how people can't change at her, which practically brings her to tears before Naruto, who has been getting more and more annoyed at Neji as the speech progressed, interrupts it and yells for Hinata to stand up for herself.

She does, and even though it is utterly futile as Neji is simply much stronger than she is, she manages to throw him off balance by the mere act of continuing to fight even though her situation is hopeless. She gets up at points where she decidedly should not be getting up, and on the verge of collapse tells Neji that he is confused and suffering within the fate of the main and branch houses. Upon hearing this Neji is driven into blind rage and runs straight at her, screaming, intending to kill her. The Jounin overseeing the match stop him in time from delivering this final blow, but Hinata is very wounded as it is and must be taken to intensive care. Naruto, deeply moved by Hinata's resolve and aggravated by Neji's comments, picks up some of Hinata's blood and clenches his fist, directing it at Neji and promising her he will defeat him.

One month later during the day of the third stage main matches Hinata sees Naruto again, who is feeling quite bothered because he has an upcoming match with Neji, too. He confides in her that he's starting to doubt himself, and he's only acting strong because he's frustrated from screwing up all the time. For a few seconds she gets over her inability to properly form sentences in his presence to tell him that she thinks of him as a strong person who makes mistakes and learns from them, and that in her eyes he's always been "a proud failure". This snaps him out of his self-doubt and before he leaves, he says that he's decided that he really likes people like her. He does not, of course, notice that this has sent her into a blushing, shocked reverie (which comically goes undisturbed even when Kiba arrives, puzzling him greatly).

Bikochu Arc
In the Anime, before the Naruto II arc begins Hinata (along with the rest of team 8) is sent on a special mission to retrieve the Bikochu ("Faint smell bug" or "scent bug"), a bug with a great tracking ability, in hopes it would help find Sasuke; Naruto is sent with them as well. During one of the mission's nights, Naruto wakes up to relieve his bladder and has his attention drawn to a nearby waterfall where he notices a naked girl performing a sort of swirling dance, making the water sprout in an orb around her. Awed by this captivating sight he approaches her, asking who she is, only to slip on a rock and fall in the water, alerting her to his presence. He apologises but there is no response, as she is already gone.

Though it is quite obvious that this girl was Hinata, Naruto fails to make the connection and later excitedly recounts to Kiba how he saw this "Ultra-Pretty girl" during the night, embarrassing her incredibly (fans of the show have drawn amused comparisons between the overall mood of the scene and mahō shōjo themes, dubbing this appearance of her "Magical Girl Hinata" or "Sailor Hinata" ala Sailor Mercury with tongue firmly in cheek).

Later, when they reach "Bikochu valley", they are being observed by members of the Kamizuru clan, which is also after the Bikōchū. Naruto and the others search for the Bikochu, reaching numerous dead ends; when it starts to rain, signalling that the Bikōchū will start laying eggs soon and time is nearly up, Hinata begins to lose faith and starts crying, but witnessing Naruto not giving up even in that seemingly hopeless situation proclaiming that "There's still time" inspires her to get a hold of herself and try again. Aided by her determination and the greater difference in temperature between the bugs and their surroundings now that it is raining, she successfully focuses her chakra enough to clearly see the bugs and sends Naruto off to the direction of a Bikochu located on a nearby branch. Naruto is ecstatic at their success and hug-clutches Hinata, leaving her blushing again. After she goes to wash her face, she is attacked by the ninja from earlier and easily subdued and kidnapped, as the constant searches have almost drained her chakra and stamina completely. Just as her teammates wonder where she has gone, a kunai carrying a message is flung at them - announcing her capture, demanding the Bikōchū in exchange and placing Naruto, Shino and Kiba in a very problematic situation.

The Kamizuru clan members leave her trapped in an elaborate trap inside a wax cocoon in a waterfall, which they are sure would ensure her death at any escape attempt. Shino, similarly trapped along with Naruto and Kiba, finally offers to reveal the whereabouts of the Bikōchū in return for her life, but when they reach the site of the trap the Kamizuru find the cocoon gone and conclude Hinata must be dead. Both teams rage at each other for this unnecessary death which benefits no one and only complicated matters, and just as a horrified Kamizuru member charges a driven-over-the-edge Kyūbi-influenced Naruto with killing intent Hinata appears, alive after all. She defeats the Kamizuru bee swarms by demonstrating a new, original jutsu she has developed - Shugohakke Rokujūyon Shō (Protection of the Eight Trigrams Sixty Four Palms), a mid-range technique (atypically for the Hyūga clan) which utilises chakra beams emitted from her hands to somewhat of a hybrid effect between Rokujuyon Sho's high speed and precision and Kaiten's defensive capabilities. Shino explains Hinata's motives of pushing herself to this level - she did it to be acknowledged by her father and Naruto; and as she drops to the ground from exhaustion Naruto catches her and pronounces her performance "awesome", grinning (though he still does not figure out that the girl he saw earlier was her, training this very technique). Hinata, not unexpectedly, blushes.

Hinata joins Naruto again on a mission to capture a theif. Hinata has another moment with Naruto as she has a small picnic with him and her teammate Kiba. Hinata makes riceballs made in the shape of Naruto's head. Naruto takes a bite and exclaims that it's good, and then saying that Hinata would make a great wife. Hinata again, turns red and blushes.

Naruto II Arc
The manga is less elaborate regarding the status of Hinata's growth when part I concludes and Naruto leaves for his three-year training period with Jiraiya. She is apparently on good terms with both her father and Neji, having had settled her issues with both. As Neji inquires as to what Hinata thinks of Naruto's departure, Kiba arrives and is delighted to inform Neji that when Hinata visited Naruto in the hospital she nearly fainted after seeing him all bandaged up (the only response she can muster is an embarrassed blush). She also goes to see Naruto off personally but ultimately does not gather the courage to actually do it, instead watching him from afar as always and resolving that she must work harder, too; a vow that was to be fulfilled, since, like the rest of the "rookie nine", she passes the exam and becomes a Chūnin during Naruto's absence. She makes her Naruto II debut in Chapter 282, sporting longer hair and her pining for Naruto only magnified by his long absence (to the degree she can't even bring herself to greet him, opting to hide instead and fainting when he rather loudly detects her). It is as of yet unknown how her skill changed during the two and a half years Naruto was gone as she has yet to show any new techniques; it is reasonable, however, to assume that she has attained at least the skills she has shown in her Animé Part I conclusion, as the Animé having her make progress that is inconsistent with later events in the manga would cause obvious continuity issues when the Animé catches up to these events.

Cool Facts
- Hyuuga means "In the Sun" and is the name of a city in the Miyazaki Prefecture in Japan. "Hinata" as her first name is a pun, as it is another way to read this kanji and means essentially the same thing.

- According to the official databook, Hinata's hobby is pressing flowers. Her favorite foods are Senzai (soft bean jam) and cinnamon rolls; her least favorite foods are crab and eel. Her favorite phrase is "Self-confidence".

- Hinata seems to share similarities with a somewhat established stereotype of typical manga/anime girls - characterised by cuteness to the point of adorability, introversion, dark and/or blue hair, a fierce resolve to work harder, and a crush on the unaware main character. The "Sailor Hinata" incident is consistent with this, as the uncharacteristic encounter where the main character is shocked by a side of the character he hasn't seen before, often involving nudity, is a recurring theme as well. Compare Shinobu Maehara, Nodoka Miyazaki and partly Ami Mizuno (who is, funnily enough, Sailor Mercury) and Rei Ayanami. In these series, the main characters' love interest traditional stereotype was loosely established as the fierce, often violent, brave and resourceful, hot-headed girl with a hair color to match, who deep inside cares for the main character a lot more than she is willing to admit - a stereotype that Sakura obviously matches closely, suggesting that if this trend continues, she will be Naruto's love interest. Despite this (and even maybe partly because of this - there is a fine line between a recurring theme and a cliché), Hinata is currently the much more popular match for Naruto in the show's fandom.

~~Naruto~~

Uzumaki Naruto (Naruto Uzumaki in the English anime) is the main character of the manga and anime series Naruto. He is a student of Hatake Kakashi's and later of Jiraiya.

History
Little is known about Naruto's birth or parentage, and it is very probable that he has no living relatives at all. What is known, however, is that around the time his mother was about to give birth to him, the Nine-tails Demon Fox, or Kyūbi no Yōko, attacked his village, Konohagakure (Hidden Leaf) and the Yondaime Hokage (Fourth Hokage) decided to seal the demon away with a forbidden technique inside him, sacrificing his life in the process. Yondaime's wish was for Naruto to be remembered as a hero by the people of the village.

Things, unfortunately for him, definitely did not turn out that way. The people of the village needed something to blame and channel their bitterness and loss onto, and he was the perfect candidate. The adults of the village, without known exceptions, knew him and treated him as nothing more than the demon fox that has attacked the village; As a result he grew up alone and isolated. It is implied in the manga that he went through very difficult emotional times and often shed many tears, but kept reprimanding himself for doing so and telling himself nothing would be achieved by crying. Eventually he developed into the loudmouth, hyperactive prankster he was at the start of the manga, though as the Third Hokage (Sandaime) observed (and even Naruto himself, in a moment of rare enlightenment, once admitted this), it is only an act to cover up for his deep insecurity in a desperate plight for recognition.

By chance or fate, Umino Iruka, who had felt much of the same desperation as Naruto in his younger years, was Naruto's teacher, and he was the first person to recognize Naruto as a human being and ninja, and not just as a stupid screwup or the Nine-Tails. Naruto, at one point, says that when he is with Iruka, he often wonders whether that is what being with a father is like.

Personality and characteristics
Naruto is very determined and has very strong values that he never once fails to act by, even in hopeless situations. His dream is to become Hokage, as it is the epitome of his ambitions to have the village acknowledge him and live for the sake of protecting his important people.

Naruto has a knack for inspiring people to realise their potentials and resolve to work harder or change their ways for the better; his determination and resolve often earn him sympathy from other characters. One early example of this is Konohamaru, the grandson of the third Hokage, who was inspired by Naruto to stop trying to find shortcuts to becoming Hokage, as there are no shortcuts and the only way is paved with plenty of hard work. Another is Inari, whom Naruto helped by making him see that anyone can make a difference and by confronting him about his refusal to come to terms with his painful past (as Naruto's past was similarly tragic). Both of them have gotten very attached to Naruto and have taken to calling him Onii-chan (big brother).

Though he is naturally impetuous, hyperactive and tends to rush into combat without thinking, Naruto is capable of devising some quite clever plans by creative usage of his jutsu. He has more than once upstaged what looked like a superior opponent by exploiting the element of surprise an unconventional usage of a technique entails; Kakashi even dubs him the "number one ninja in surprising people". Another main driving force behind his otherwise average Taijutsu and Ninjutsu abilities is the huge power and chakra reserves of the Kyūbi. Kyūbi is by no stretch of the imagination a particularly pleasant character, but nevertheless does everything in his power to help Naruto - lending chakra as requested, healing Naruto with his extreme healing ability and so forth - if only for the fact that Naruto's death would apparently mean the Kyūbi's death as well.

There are downsides to the huge chakra load that is Kyūbi; like most of the biggest weapons, it can't be lifted, let alone wielded, with ease. Naruto is a relatively small container that cannot quite handle the whole of Kyūbi's chakra, which might account for Naruto's inability to control and focus chakra consistently for jutsu during his days at the academy. Even later, when Naruto learns to better control his chakra, any technique relying on Kyūbi's chakra to work properly runs a chance of failing, as it takes great conviction or control on Naruto's part to draw Kyūbi's chakra effectively. However, Naruto's Chakra and Kyūbi's chakra are slowly fusing and are expected to eventually become one, which is bound to drastically change this status-quo.

Ninja academy
Up to his academy graduation, Naruto has precious little of the acknowledgement and empathy he seeks. His sensei, Umino Iruka, and to a lesser extent the Third Hokage, are the only positive influence on him in that respect (though Hyūga Hinata thinks very highly of him as well she never actually gathers the courage to address him). He neglects his academy studies so much that he repeatedly fails to graduate (though the Bunshin no Jutsu, the one he is worst at, being the final test every year doesn't help much). That is until he is manipulated to steal the scroll of seals (a scroll belonging to the village containing forbidden techniques) by Mizuki. During the short conflict between Mizuki and Iruka, Naruto acquires his signature technique, Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, by learning it from the scroll. When he demonstrates usage of this technique, Iruka passes him and congratulates him on graduating.

While labeled as dumb at the academy, Naruto shows surprising talent in unexpected areas and often comes up with inventive solutions and strategies. Later in the series, Naruto manages to learn the Rasengan, a technique that took the fourth Hokage three years to develop, in just a month (he takes a couple of days for the first step, three weeks for the second, and one week for the third). An example of Naruto's inventiveness is shown here -- he lacks the chakra control required to execute the technique using only one hand, but he settles for an inferior delivery method which is slower and requires another hand (either by occupying his other one or using a kage bunshin). While not on par with the original, Naruto's version is still very effective.

Later in the manga, Naruto is seen to be able to use Rasengan with only one hand (though this might be a misinterpretation due to the graphic limitations of manga). Early in the Naruto II arc while out to rescue Gaara, Naruto uses a new version of Rasengan called Odama Rasengan- essentially two combined Rasengan spheres from him and a clone requiring only one hand of each, again suggesting that he is now capable of executing Rasengan as originally intended.

Team 7
In order to become a genin, in addition to graduating from the Ninja Academy, one must first undergo an evaluation with a Jōnin; if one passes, they will be assigned to that Jonin for training. Naruto, Haruno Sakura (his crush) and Uchiha Sasuke (her crush) are assigned to Team 7 under the leadership of Hatake Kakashi. The evaluation test is simple. There are three members and two bells: the two who manage to put their hands on a bell win and are awarded with food, and the one who is left out remains hungry. Kakashi easily defends himself from all three, and after a while calls a break and points out their flaws in teamwork; he lets Sakura and Sasuke eat so they can all try again later, but forbids them to feed Naruto, who is also tied to a log for good measure. Sakura and Sasuke decide to go against Kakashi's words and feed Naruto anyway, figuring that if the problem is their teamwork this would be a good way to start working on it; Team 7 thus becomes the first group that Kakashi ever passed to be Genin, as this is exactly the message he was trying to get across - caring for your friends is more important than "the rules".

Though Genin are only supposed to go on D-Rank missions, Naruto insists on doing something more exciting and the Sandaime Hokage agrees to send them on a C-Rank mission to escort a client. During their mission, the team is attacked by two enemy Chūnin- something that is definitely not supposed to happen on C-Rank missions- and Naruto panics and freezes; Sasuke however deals with the attackers quite efficiently. Sasuke rubs his one-upping Naruto in by calling him a "Scaredy-cat"; this name-calling, which Naruto would imitate many times later in the series, is a defining moment in the Naruto-Sasuke rivalry. Team 7 also undergoes chakra training in this arc of the manga, another point of rivalry between the two ninja, as they constantly challenge themselves to try to outdo each other, but instead end up helping and motivating each other to succeed.

Naruto's "hidden power" is also revealed in this arc. In a particularly ferocious battle in which he believes Sasuke has been killed, Naruto loses control and is consumed by Kyūbi's chakra. Its power is so immense that the chakra is visible, all of Naruto's wounds heal near-instantaneously, and Naruto's appearance changes. He completely overwhelms his enemy with this power and speed. Although the power of the Kyūbi is introduced at this point, the full extent of it is not shown yet. Naruto has not communicated with the Demon Fox inside of him; he only subconsciously calls upon this power.

After his graduation, Naruto gradually becomes more acknowledged and appreciated, as more and more people come in contact with the real Naruto behind the "demon" and "idiot prankster" stigmas. From his previous state of isolation he develops friendships with all sorts of people; his relationship with Sasuke grows into a mix of friendship and rivalry, eventually escalating into very strong friendship and a rivalry of epic proportions, while Haruno Sakura's role slowly develops from that of Naruto's mere crush into that of his important friend.

Chuunin exam
Team 7 returns to Konoha to continue with their lives as regular Genin, accomplishing menial missions. Eventually, whilst playing with Konohamaru and his friends, Naruto meets with two of the three Genin from Sunagakure (Hidden Sand), Kankurō and Temari and shortly learns the reason for their presence; Chūnin Selection Exams are in effect. Naruto is thrilled about the possibility of becoming a Chūnin, and though he fails to, various events during the exams drastically affect his ability and enrich his social relations (much later in the manga, when Naruto reminisces on how he was alone but slowly more and more people became his friends, we see a growing line which first contains Iruka, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura, and later expands to include people he met on the Chūnin exam).

During the exam, Naruto finds himself for the first time in a truly desperate situation, up against Orochimaru - an S-ranked criminal so powerful that the third Hokage later mentions that there is nobody in the hidden Leaf Village that can fight him equally (even he himself, he admits, cannot). Naruto and Sasuke's reactions to the situation are a complete reversal of what happened in their previous mission - Sasuke is paralyzed with panic while Naruto fights on fearlessly, at one point stopping Orochimaru's huge summoned snake in its tracks on his own, and muttering to Sasuke, in a a moment of glorious comeuppance that marks another milestone in their rivalry, "are you all right... scaredy-cat?". Naruto eventually snaps Sasuke out of his panic, and when Naruto is knocked out Sasuke continues to fight Orochimaru.

Naruto vastly improves in ability during the three stages of the Chuunin exam; beside winning his first true fight (against Kiba) by having shadow replications perform a combo attack, he improves his chakra control by practicing walking on water, learns how to call upon Kyūbi's energy at will and how to use the summoning technique to call a toad to his aid (the former skill essential for the usability of the latter, as without Kyūbi's chakra his summons are generally not much more than tadpoles). He uses these skills to a powerful effect in later battles, and at the climax of the arc triumphs against Gaara, an opponent Sasuke could not face equally, thus reversing their roles and inducing in Sasuke deep feelings of inferiority - though Sasuke still attempts to maintain the same attitude in front of Naruto, in an attempt to cling to his former superiority. At an early point Naruto tells Sasuke that he wants to fight him during the exam; Sasuke acknowledges Naruto in his own way later on when he tells him that he wants to fight him as well.

In the month between the third stage preliminary matches and the third stage main matches, Naruto meets Jiraiya - one of Konoha's legendary three - for the first time. Jiraiya agrees to be his sensei and is the one who teaches him most of the advanced techniques he learns during that time. He also undergoes a brief training period under Ebisu, who earlier saw him as nothing more than the container of the demon fox but after spending some time with him decides that he is indeed a true ninja of the leaf.

Naruto's defining trait of being extremely spirited and never giving up is further emphasised in this arc. During the written test part, when given a choice between taking a question or not taking a question - when not taking it would mean failing the exam, and taking it but not answering correctly would mean failing and staying a genin forever - he not only chooses to take the question but proclaims his resolve to will himself to be Hokage even if he stays a genin forever loudly, inspiring many people in the room to do the same (in a twist, it later turns out that the whole point of the "question" was to see who was fit and who wasn't fit for being a chūnin, an occupation in which one does not have a choice of whether to undertake missions which risk everything or not, and Naruto has answered correctly by merely deciding to confront it). He also faces up with determination to Hyūga Neji and Gaara - Two opponents that, he frankly admits to himself often at various points during the arc, terrify him.

Naruto's encounters during the Chūnin exam arc are characterized by Naruto relating to or opposing to sentiments and outlooks on life, and it is through this relation that he makes many new friends (and on three different occasions, by defeating an enemy). He gradually bonds with Rock Lee, a Taijutsu expert, who represents the ideal of hard work prevailing against all odds and stands up against the much more powerful Gaara during the third stage preliminary exams even while unconscious. Naruto deeply identifies with Lee and feels very sorry for him when Gaara beats him (since he does such a thorough job as to, according to the doctors' first impressions, permanently cripple Lee.)

Another contrast that deeply affects Naruto is the clash between Hyūga Hinata, the forsaken heir of the Hyūga clan head house, and Hyūga Neji, her cousin, who is much stronger but will never be the heir because he is a part of the branch house. Naruto watches the start of the fight with little knowledge of either fighters (apart from that Hinata is a nice person, as she offered to let him copy off of her paper in the written test stage and offered him medicine immediately after his fight with Inuzuka Kiba); however about a minute later, after Hinata mumbles quietly that she just wanted to change herself and Neji lectures her about the supreme rule of destiny and how people cannot change, Naruto is already shouting into the stadium for Hinata to stand up for herself. She loses the fight, much like Lee loses his own fight with Gaara - still standing at a point where she should technically be dead; when she finally goes down, Naruto is so overwhelmed with sympathy for her predicament and antagonism for Neji's attitude that he closes his punch around her overflowing blood and flings it at Neji, promising to her that he will beat the Hyūga prodigy himself.

Naruto's fight with Neji a month later is a very dramatic one. As techniques are used and advantages are gained and nullified, Neji lectures Naruto much like he did earlier with Hinata, telling him that dropouts remain dropouts and cannot change. Naruto suffers somewhat of an emotional impact when Neji gives him a speech about the Hokages being people who were destined to become ones, and how one cannot become one just because they want to; Ultimately, however, he would have none of it and keeps confronting Neji about his attitude, until Neji tells him of the tragedy of his father's death and the Hyūga fate of hatred. Naruto eventually wins the battle through sheer motivation and believing in victory, and in the process changes Neji's outlook on life one-hundred and eighty degrees, inspiring him to create his own fate and forming another important bond ("Stop talking about fate and how it can't be changed," says Naruto sardonically, "you're not like me. You're not a dropout.")

The climax of the arc is Naruto's battle with Gaara. Gaara represents the opposite reaction to Naruto's very predicament than the one Naruto had; Naruto looked for acknowledgement and attention to form his identity, while Gaara built more and more walls around himself, eventually concluding that his purpose in life was to kill everybody that was not him. At first Naruto is clearly outpowered, but later in the fight he gains more ground by using clever tactics and employing the techniques Jiraiya taught him. Most of all what enables him to triumph is his devotion to his important people, which turns out to be a source of much greater strength of Gaara's hatred, contrary to Naruto's first impression that Gaara's state of mind makes him somebody he could not possibly face.

After the battle ends, Gaara wonders whether he'd be able to love again, and appears later in the series as a positive character and another important friend Naruto has made during this arc.

Sasuke arc
Naruto's influence on Sasuke, though profound, is powerless to prevent Sasuke from deciding to become a Nukenin (Missing-nin) and leaving the leaf to receive training from Orochimaru. Sasuke's decision to leave is the result of a chain of events that rekindles his hatred and desire to avenge his clan so much that it overshadows all other influences in his life. This experience is traumatic to Naruto, as he has promised Sakura to bring Sasuke back and this is the first time he is unable to live up to something he promised to an important person. Unlike Jiraiya, however, who from his own experience with Orochimaru believes that Sasuke is too far gone and that Naruto should forget about him and concentrate on his own survival, Naruto believes that there is hope for Sasuke yet. He tells Sakura that he will, one day, bring Sasuke back to the village and live up to his promise.

Naruto II arc
After this failed attempt to retrieve Sasuke, Naruto learns that circumstances have granted him a 3-year window to prepare himself for when the time comes to face Orochimaru (who has switched bodies prematurely and now has to wait 3 years before executing his original plan of transferring into Sasuke) and defend himself against additional kidnap attempts from the shady organisation Akatsuki (who, according to Jiraiya's information sources and for reasons unknown, halt their plans to attempt capturing Naruto for three years). Naruto takes this opportunity for intensive training under Jiraiya, as does Sakura under Tsunade. As Jiraiya was the Fourth's sensei, this places Naruto in a very good position to actually fulfill his dream to become Hokage or at least a ninja of great renown, as most legendary ninjas and hokages are closely tied to one another through student-teacher relations (though she does not tell him this, Tsunade is already certain he will grow up to become Hokage).

When Naruto returns to the village two and a half years later he finds out, much to his chagrin, that he is the only one of his former-Genin social circle (known as the "Rookie 9") who is still a Genin. During his absence, the rest have become Chūnin (and Hyūga Neji even made Jōnin).

In this new arc of the story, dubbed Naruto II, we see the growth of all of the characters, including Naruto. Naruto shows physical growth, sports a new outfit, and appears to not only have increased in strength and techniques, but intelligence as well (the pervertedness of his Sensei also seems to have slightly rubbed off on him). He has little time, however, to wander the village and greet all his old friends, as the Hokage sends him, Sakura and Kakashi on yet another rescue mission, this time to retrieve the helpless Gaara (who, to Naruto's utter awe, has become the fifth Kazekage during his absence) from the hands of Akatsuki, who plan to extract the sealed demon from him for purposes yet unknown. Jiraiya's information sources indicate that Akatsuki has been growing impatient with their lack of success capturing Naruto, and thus this clash with Akatsuki seems to have been inevitable.

Naruto, along with Sakura, Kakashi, Team Gai, and Chiyo, go on a mission to rescue the recently-captured Gaara from the Akatsuki. They are first confronted by Itachi and Kisame, who turn out to be body substitutes by means of Shoten no Jutsu (Shapeshifting Technique), and defeat them. Upon arrival at the grotto where Gaara is being held, the group figures out that a barrier jutsu seals off the entrance. To facilitate entry, Team Gai goes to remove four seals scattered in the area; doing so creates clones of them which copy their every movement. Meanwhile, Naruto and Kakashi decide to confront Deidara while Chiyo and Sakura face Sasori. Both pairs defeat the Akatsuki members, and Gai and company defeat their clones, with help from Neji.

Upon retrieving Gaara from Deidara's clay bird, Naruto undergoes the second-stage Kyūbi transformation, which he used against Sasuke. Because Kakashi knew how to contain Naruto's further transformation using a special seal he received from Jiraiya, it has been implied that Jiraiya also witnessed Naruto's transformation during the last three years.

Trivia

- The surname "Uzumaki" translates to "spiral". The Konoha leaf symbol is drawn with an arrow attached to a spiral, the seal on his abdomen is a spiral, and one of his attacks is Rasengan which means "Spiralling Sphere". One wonders if the spirals surrounding Naruto are a reflection of the main character, or if Naruto's last name is a reflection of the spirals of his village. For Uzumaki may be a generic last name representing the village given to those without a family name.

- "Uzumaki" can also mean "whirlpool". The Naruto whirlpool, named after the city of Naruto, lies between said city and Awaji Island.

- Naruto can mean "maelstrom", and is also the name for a sliced stick of Kamaboko with a pink whirlpool design in the middle which is used as a topping for Ramen (Naruto's favorite food). The Japanese sometimes use it as a nickname for the commercial at (@).

- The Kitsune is a well-known character in Japanese myth, and the influence behind not only the Demon Fox a.k.a. the Kyūbi but many other reincarnations in modern Japanese culture. It likes to play tricks and pranks on people, and on occasions transforms itself into a beautiful woman and seduces a man (obviously the inspiration for Ninja Centerfold (Oiroke no Jutsu, literally Sexy Technique), which is often called "Sexy no Jutsu" by people in the North American Naruto fanbase). Foxes are also known to be especially fierce and resourceful when pushed into a corner, and can even kill a hound or other powerful animals, something which also reflects Naruto's determination. It should also be noted that every time Naruto loses control and is overwhelmed by the Kyuubi's chakra, he seemingly gains another "tail" of chakra. This stems from the Japanese myth that when kitsune reach 100 years, they gain an additional tail, as well as increased powers and intelligence; their powers and number of tails continue to grow every 100 years until the age of 1000 when they receive the ninth and final tail and incredible powers which in some versions even reach up to immortality. The Kyuubi's powers are limited to seep through to how much Naruto can take, though it seems that this limit is severely stretched the older Naruto gets, and will probably be broken altogether when their chakra finishes melding.

- October 10, Naruto's birthday, was "Taiiku no hi" (Health and Sports Day) in Japan when his character was conceived - a holiday full of physical activity fit for a hyperactive kid. The holiday, however, was moved to the second Monday of October during 1999.

- According to the Game Boy Advance game Naruto: Konoha Senki one of Naruto's hobbies is gardening and he is the one who gives Kakashi Mr Ukki, the plant seen on Kakashi's windowsill. According to the official databooks his hobbies are playing pranks and watering plants.
